Angela Lane

Angela Lane is a visual artist based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She holds a BFA with Distinction from the Alberta College of Art & Design in Calgary, Alberta in 2007 and her MFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, Maryland, USA in 2011. Angela was selected to participate in the 2021 London Art Biennial and in 2011, was recognized as MICA’s nominee for the prestigious Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant.  In 2007, she was selected  as the Alberta finalist in the BMO 1st Art Painting Competition in Canada. Angela’s  work is collected on both private and corporate levels including the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Bank of Montreal Corporate Collection.

Angela Lane creates fantastic, shaped paintings which fuse  organic and geometric shapes, sculpture, illusion, physical form and layered imagery. This original choreography negotiates the concrete nature of constructed forms alongside the collaged illusions they encompass. By combining elements from quilting and textiles arts with sculpture and painting she is blurring the long defined barriers between craft and fine art.
